Remember the Good Ol' Days?
The other day while browsing the web, I came across a rather interesting site. It's called the "Drive-in Theater' and basically details the history of the Drive-in Movie Theater, which was quite common many years ago. I am sure that we all (at least, those of us at least 30 years of age) have fond memories of these. I guess these are a 'dying breed' to put it lightly and it will only be a matter of time before these are gone from the face of the earth!!
I really enjoyed browsing through it, recalling the old days when I went to Drive-In's when I was a youngster growing up in Massachusetts and New Jersey. It has already been a number of years since I have gone to one, since they are few and far between.
Anyhow, this gave me the idea of starting a page on my website dedicated to the "Good ol' Days.' I'd like people to send me links of sites dedicated to the things we enjoyed in the past. I have other links to amusement parks, etc., that I will be putting in soon.
LISTING OF SITES
NOSTALGIA CENTRAL Pop culture, movies, music, etc. of the 60-70's..... The #1 A to Z of the 60, 70s & 80s since 1998
-DRIVE-IN MOVIE THEATERS-
DRIVE-IN THEATER.....a website dedicated to the memories of the Drive-in Movie Theater. It includes listings of present and closed-down theaters that are quite interesting. There is also a listing of the Route-66 Drive-in's along with various ads that appeared in the past.
-OLD AMUSEMENT PARKS-
DEFUNCTPARKS.COM.... Here's a website that tells about the Amusement Parks that have seen better days. I've found a number of them that have interested me. Maybe you'll find your favorite when you were younger? Huge listing of out-dated parks by state. One of my favorites was Mountain Park in Holyoke, Ma, where I spent my early years. Had a lot of fun there and was able to re-live some of those moments in the photos that I saw on the website and this inspired me to do a little more research on amusement parks. Another of my old favorites was Frontier Village in San Jose, CA, which I visited during the 1970's after moving out here to California.
Frontier Village, San Jose, CA Found this very nice web site about Frontier Village. Was open until 1980. Enjoyable. You can read its history and view some of the rides, etc.
These are my first two listings of two activities which were beloved by a lot of us in our 50's. We grew up with these. I was hoping that people could send me linkings to these cherished pieces of Americana. Just email me at DSTEFA4621@aol.com and advise me of the link. I'm looking for links similar to these that generalize activities of past years which will one day be gone but always remembered. And of course, the puka shell (our main product) has been a huge part of fashion here in the United States...during the 70's and 90's. Thank you very much....dave
